Becoming Effective Ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

We are Lawrence and Masesi Masilela. We are blessed with two beautiful children who love Jesus. We became involved in Children’s Ministry at SFGC in 2009. We love being part of a church that loves children and recognizes their importance in God’s Kingdom.

Our Sunday Ministry Includes
  • Preschool: ages 2-3
  • Children’s Church: ages 4-12
  • Junior – ages 4 – Gr. 3
  • Senior – Gr.4-6
  • We join the adults for worship beginning at 10:00am

Following worship the children are released for their own ministry time in Nursery, Preschool or Children’s Church. Our Children’s church involves group activities as well as small group discussion time.

Five Key Areas of our Ministry

Praise/Worship:”From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.”Psalm 8:2(NIV)

There is a purity found in the simple worship of children.

Prayer: “Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly, gather together the people, consecrate the assembly, bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast.” Joel2:15-16(NIV)

Even the children were called to be part of the fasting, prayer and repentance.

Scripture Memorization:”I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”Psalm 119:11(NIV)

It is the word of God in the hearts and mouths of our children that will defeat the evil one.

Bible Study:”Jesus Replied, ” You are in error because you do not know the scriptures or the power of God.”Matthew22:29(NIV)

We strive to teach the importance of the sword of the spirit and make Bible Study a part of their Christian walk.

Active Ministry: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”1Tim.4:12 (NIV)

Our children are not only the church of tomorrow but are an effective part of the church today. We believe children can be actively involved in ministry and are always striving to make them active participants. Our senior children grades 4-6 are involved in puppet ministry, music and dance. As well they have participated bible teaching for our Preschool classes. When there is an opportunity to serve these kids are there. Whether it is set up for Children’s ministry or preparing a church meal, we appreciate the involvement of these young men and women of God.
